Sam 1 year {Cake Smash Session at City Park, New Orleans}

Milestone photo sessions are always so much fun and this one was no exception. It’s only once in a lifetime that your little one turns one so why not document it in style? I cannot get over this little cutie’s cake smash session. This guy was such a doll his entire one year session. It was a joy to take pictures for his milestone session and cake smash.

Sessions like these are what make me feel so blessed to be a family photographer in New Orleans. As a mother myself I know how fleeting these days (and years!) can be. That’s why I love capturing these milestone session for parents. I know one day soon they’ll look back at these one year photos and feel as though they were a lifetime ago.

We met for this cutie’s one year photo session near the peristyle at the New Orleans City Park. You’ll often see weddings and other gatherings at the City Park peristyle, as well as babies having their milestone photo session done, as the peristyle is a gorgeous back drop for any occasion. The lighting on the morning of this milestone photo session was so beautiful, it complimented the precious baby boy just perfectly.

Sam’s mommy made this adorable tie dye birthday cake just for him, and it was a hit! It was an adorable surprise for this cake smash session and will go perfectly with his birthday party theme – Sam Fest (a play on French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest which conveniently fall near his birthday and are some of his parents’ favorite festivals in New Orleans). His mom picked up his diaper cover from Itsy Bitsy Me in Metairie, LA, and they were the perfect subtle look to keep the attention on baby during his cake smash photo session.
